Gymnastics is a sport practiced by men and women that requires balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, endurance and control. The movements involved in gymnastics contribute to the development of the arms, legs, shoulders, back, chest and abdominal muscle groups.

An Overview of Gymnastics

Our enthusiastic fully qualified coaches will ensure that your children have a great time learning all the different aspects of gymnastics and trampolining whilst staying fit and healthy.

The programme has recently been modernised to focus more on skill development making it easier to track your child's progress through the different levels.

Our Gymnastics programme is designed to allow each participant the opportunity to learn new challenging skills and provide the chance to progress through our Gymnastics Pathway.

Gymnastics is an accessible and inclusive sport offering opportunities to all ability levels and ethnic groups within a range of controlled learning environments. It promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and is recognised as forming the basis for physical literacy by developing fundamental movement skills.

Play Gym: Crawling to 5 years Child £2.10 (£3 at Kelvin Hall) Adult: £1 Second Child £1

Cubs: 18 month - 5 years Child: £3.50 (£3.30 concession) Kelvin Hall: £5.00 (£4.50 concession)

Beginner: Lions/ Tigers/ Child: £3.50 (£3.30 Kidz Card, £3.10 Concession) Kelvin Hall: £5 (£4.50 Kidz Card, £4 concession)

Intermediate: Leopards / Bobcats Child: £4.40 (£4.20 Kidz Card) Kelvin Hall: £6.20 (£5.98 Kidz Card)

Advanced: Jaguar / Competition Class Child: £5.40 (£5.20 Kidz Card) Kelvin Hall: £7 (£6.30 Kidz Card)

Involvement

Glasgow Sport offer various gymnastics classes from 18 month old children through to advanced gymnasts. Check out the Get Involved box on this page for our up to date sessions.

Facts

  • Team GB won 4 medals in the artistic gymnastics at London 2012.
  • Max Whitlock became Great Britain's first ever gold medalist in Artistic Gymnastics in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Recreational Gymnastics Lead

Upstarts Gymnastics CIO is seeking an enthusiastic Level 2 Coach to be Recreational Gymnastics Lead.

Initially we are looking for someone to be in the gym for the following:

Monday 3.45 - 8.15pm
Thursday 3.45 - 6.15pm
Friday 3.45 - 8.45pm

With additional hours for absence cover, and potential to build the hours.
As well as coaching hours, the administration work is paid as five hours a week; this is to be spread over the week as necessary to cover routine emails and daily planning. Long term, there may be scope to increase coaching hours.

Salary: Pro Rata
Full Time Employment - E £24,390
