Classes in Leicester at Avanti Fields School & London at Harrow Arts Centre

We teach Garba, which is a form of Indian folk dance, consisting of claps, clicks, bends and spins. It is a dance of celebration, usually performed during the Hindu festival of Navratri. As the official representative of the Sonis school of Garba Dance (SSGD) in Europe, Swarni arts has created @ssgdeurope to bring this form of dance to a more diverse audience. SSGD has created a syllabus which has been accredited by the World Dance Council enabling us to teach authentic Garba in a structured way via classes and workshops, topeople of all backgrounds and dance abilities.

In addition to our local tutors, we invite the founder of SSGD, Jigar Soni, to the UK twice in a year to conduct workshops/masterclasses. Jigar will be in the UK in March 2023. I have attached some more information about Jigar/SSGD to this email.

Please let me know if you would like to collaborate in any way :)

As the official representative of the Sonis school of Garba Dance in Europe, Swarni arts is working closely with Jigar and Suhrad Soni, who are now, as well as the co-founders of the world's largest authentic Garba School; producers, choreographers and performing artists, representing folk dance worldwide.

Certified by UNESCO, they are affiliated to the International Dance Council, which has enabled them to not only produce a certified syllabus for their Garba School but also present both dance and seminars at industry and private organisations. SSGD Europe was created to teach authentic Garba in a structured way via classes and workshops, to people of all backgrounds and dance abilities.

As national level Gold medallists' in folk dance, the brothers have been awarded by numerous organisations for their choreography and performance, including by the UK government, where they received an award from the House of Commons for their significant contribution towards promoting Indian culture globally.

Popularly known as the Soni brothers, they started teaching Authentic Garba in 1998 with the vision of preserving and promoting the traditional form of this beautiful folk dance from Gujarat. Being hugely popular in India over the last 20 years, SSGD have recently become more of a global platform as the largest Authentic Garba School, having a presence in 13 countries worldwide and almost 2000 students learning from them every year. The Soni brothers have performed Authentic Garba on various mainstream platforms in India and released their own song "Radha ne Shyam" with the renowned Queen of Garba, Falguni Pathak!
