About Scottish Civic Trust

The Scottish Civic Trust is a charity founded in 1967. The Trust is based in the category A-listed Tobacco Merchant's House in Glasgow. They aim to provide leadership and focus in the protection, enhancement and development of Scotland's built environment

The Scottish Civic Trust is the national organisation for local heritage, civic and community groups. We advocate at local and national levels to preserve cultural and built heritage, working in partnership with grassroots community organisations to celebrate place and identity. We take action with planning authorities to protect listed buildings and conservation areas, and empower everyone, including marginalised groups and historically underrepresented, to share their heritage through our Diverse Heritage project. We also celebrate our shared places and stories by working with schools, youth groups and community organisations through our My Place programme as well as leading on Doors Open Days, the largest heritage festival in Scotland.
