Kayaking

Kayaking is the use of a kayak for moving across the water. A kayak is a low to the water canoe like boat in which the paddler sits facing forward, legs in front, using a double bladed paddle to pull front to back on one side and then the other in rotation.

Canoes and kayaks vary greatly in design, shape and size dependent on the type of canoeing, the type of water and the size of craft suitable for you. But if you are new to the sport don't worry about this level of detail, the best thing to do is go along to a local club or centre, or try one of the starter sessions and you'll learn about the various styles of canoes and kayak out on your session.
